ABOUT ME
HI THERE! I'M CAMERON FOX...
...and I'm a 23 year old third year student at the University of Derby, and when asked why I want to become a video game developer, I reflect on a lifelong passion for video games that began in childhood which has fuelled my journey down this career path. Energetic, passionate, and determined, I've developed essential soft skills - such as effective communication, time management, reliability, leadership, and more - during my many years in education and work. Strongly proficient in C#, C++ Blueprints, and Python, plus baseline knowledge skills in C and C++, and with hands-on experience in Unreal Engine and Unity, my programming skills have developed tenfold since I began my journey - but they can certainly be expanded and improved upon even more, which is something I aim to accomplish with some real hands-on work in the industry. To relax, other than practising my programming skills, I also practise learning the guitar and I find joy in my favourite hobby, gaming. My favourite genre is RPG's due to their compelling expansive open worlds and timeless adventures. Picking an all-time favourite game is a harsh and tricky question, but if pressed, the high-seas exploits of 'Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag' stand out as a journey I will always remember and cherish.
EDUCATION
I am currently in my final year at the University of Derby, studying towards a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Computer Games Programming.
Prior to this, I completed a Games Development course at the Joseph Wright Derby College, earning a Pearson BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production (Games Development) with the triple grade Merit Pass Pass.
WORK
I am currently employed as a Customer Service Assistant at Tenpin Derby. I first started when I was 16 years old and have now worked there for over 7 years, constantly growing and developing into a better person and learning new skills that have enabled me to work efficiently as part of a team and gather valuable communication skills.
During my tenure at Tenpin, I have been trained on every department available to become a fully fledged member of staff. This job has acted as a part-time/full-time experience throughout my time in education.
